The short version: tokens are credits you use inside Kathu to publish letters and add extras. Making drafts and previews is always free. Tokens are not money, can’t be cashed out or transferred, and are refunded only when something went wrong on our side.
1. What tokens are
- Tokens are prepaid service credits for Kathu. They have no cash value, earn no interest, and cannot be sold, transferred between accounts or exchanged for money.
- Your balance and every change to it are shown in your wallet.
- Tokens don’t expire while your account is active. If you delete your account, unused tokens are lost.
2. Ways to get tokens
- Welcome bonus — added once, when you confirm your email address (or sign in with Google).
- Refer & earn — share your referral link. A friend who joins with it gets a small extra bonus when they confirm their email; you get a reward when they publish their first letter. Rewards are limited per account (shown in your wallet).
- Coupons — codes we share for offers and festivals. Each code has its own limits and dates.
- Ask the Kathu team — from your wallet. Online payment is not available yet. We may add tokens for free, or ask for a contribution by UPI; if so, add your UPI reference to the request so we can match it. We add tokens after checking, usually within one working day.
- Online payment — coming later. This page will be updated with prices, taxes and payment terms before it starts.
3. What uses tokens
Current prices are always shown in the app before you confirm. Today:
- Publishing a letter — once per letter. Edits after publishing are free.
- Extras, such as removing the “Made with Kathu” badge — once per letter. The cartoon couple and the mini-game are free for now; if they ever get a price, letters that already have them are never charged.
- Keeping a link open longer than the free period (30 days after your last function) — per extra 30 days.
Drafts, previews, design changes, guest lists, RSVPs, wishes and support are free.
4. Refunds
- Tokens spent are not returned because you changed your mind, deleted a letter, or an event was cancelled or moved — you can edit the date, venue or wording for free instead.
- We return tokens when something went wrong on our side: for example you were charged twice, or a letter could not be opened because of a fault in Kathu. Raise a support ticket within 30 days.
- If you paid money for tokens (by UPI) and we could not deliver them, we refund that payment to the same UPI account within 7 working days.
- If we pause a letter because it broke the Content & Acceptable Use policy, tokens are not returned.
5. Fair use and abuse
Creating several accounts, fake referrals, sharing coupon codes in ways we did not intend, or other attempts to collect bonuses unfairly may lead to the tokens being removed and the account suspended. Every change to a wallet is recorded in a ledger that cannot be edited.
