The short version: use Kathu to invite people to real celebrations. Use only photos and music you may share, with the permission of the people in them. No fake events, scams, hate or adult content.
1. Allowed
Invitations, save-the-dates, greetings and thank-you letters for real events — weddings, engagements, haldi, mehndi / mylanchi, nikah, receptions and other family celebrations — in any language.
2. Not allowed
- Impersonation: letters that pretend to be from someone else, use another family’s names or photos without permission, or announce events that are not real.
- Photos without consent: photos of people who have not agreed to be shown, private or intimate photos, or photos of children shared by anyone other than their parent or guardian.
- Copyright: music, artwork or photos you don’t have the right to use — including film songs and other copyrighted songs. Use our copyright-free music library or music you made.
- Scams and spam: asking guests for money, bank or card details, OTPs or passwords; misleading links; mass unsolicited messages.
- Harmful content: hate or harassment based on religion, caste, gender, community or any other identity; threats; violence; sexual or obscene content; anything illegal in India.
- Misuse of the service: using letters to host files or links unrelated to the event, trying to break or overload Kathu, or abusing referral and coupon programmes.
3. Guests’ wishes
Hosts can hide or delete any wish on their letter. Guests should post only kind, respectful messages. We may remove wishes that break this policy.
4. What happens if a letter breaks the rules
- Anyone can tap “Report this letter” at the bottom of a letter, or follow the steps on the Grievance & Report Abuse page.
- We review reports and may pause the letter, remove content, or suspend the account. Serious cases (for example threats or child-safety concerns) may be reported to the authorities.
- If you believe we paused your letter by mistake, reply to our email or raise a support ticket and we will look again.
