The short version: Kathu uses only the cookies it needs to work. No advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.
1. Cookies we use
- Session cookie — keeps you signed in and remembers you between pages.
- Security (XSRF) cookie — protects forms such as sign-in, RSVP and wishes from forged requests.
- “Remember me” — only if you tick it when signing in.
- Referral cookie (
kathu_ref) — when you open a link with a friend’s referral code, we remember that code for 30 days so the friend can be thanked if you sign up. It contains only the code.
2. Things stored in your browser
- On a letter: the language you chose (English / മലയാളം) and whether you muted the music.
- In the app: whether you collapsed the side menu.
These stay on your device and are never sent to us.
3. Other services
Google sign-in sets its own cookies on Google’s pages when you choose it. Map and WhatsApp buttons open those services, which follow their own policies.
4. Your choices
You can delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie you won’t be able to sign in or send an RSVP.
